Professional baseball star Van Lingle Mungo is arguably the most famous person to ever come from Pageland. Mungo played for the Dodgers during the 1930s, owned one of Pageland's two theaters, had a stretch of highway named for him and was even the inspiration for a popular novelty song by David Frishberg.
There is currently a move to get Mungo into the Baseball Hall Of Fame. You can sign an online petition by clicking here.
